2nd “Antiquity Jewelry Fair”.

Piše: Mertcan Cilgin — 16. July, 2019.

At the beginning of July, the Association of Argonauta, in cooperation with the National Library and the reading house Tisno, and the Tisno Tourist Board, organized the 2nd “Antiquity Jewelry Fair” in the palace of Katunarić Palace.

The inspiration for the jewelry fair was the opening of the archaeological collection of St. Martin, Ivinj, which contains interesting pieces of medieval jewelry found in this area.

The Municipality of Tisno recognized the potential of this fair and through the Tisno Tender Competition, programs for the implementation of the program, projects and public needs of interest for the general good have been realized. The main goal of the fair was to bring visitors to the collection content, to point to the value of this archaeological site, as well as to gather and present the jewelry of craftsmen and artists from our area and throughout Croatia.

It was especially our pleasure to gather such many quality and attractive exhibitors. Various jewelry could be found at the fair; from the replica of antique jewelry from the Zagreb Archaeological Museum through contemporary jewelry inspired by antiquity to the artistic jewelry of local authors.

In addition to interesting pieces of jewelry that could be seen and bought on 2nd and 3rd of July at Katunarić palace, on the 2nd of July 2019 at the opening ceremony of the Archaeological Collection of St. Martin, Ivinj, you could also enjoy the performance by young cellist Victor Hodak.

The opening was led by the head of the National Library and the reading rooms of Tisno, Silvija Ćurić, a guest of the opening that honored us with a wonderful introduction to the history of the site and collection, was the art historian of Josip Ćuzel. Guests and visitors of the fair had a chance to see the collection and to get acquainted with the fundraising of the locality of Sv. Martin, Ivinj, and the collection will be open during July and August every night from 20 to 23h when all interested will be able to see it free of charge.

On Wednesday, 3rd of July from 6 PM, as part of the Argonauta’s jewelry workshop, all visitors to the fair had the opportunity to make their jewelry inspired by Antiquity and bring it with them as a memory of this event.
We hope that this fair will contribute to the popularization of the Archaeological Collection of St. Martin, Ivinj, and thus contribute to the valorization of the locality of the same name.

In the end, one thanks to all the participants of the trade fair that supported the 2nd “Antique Jewelry Fair” with its presence and display of jewelry and we hope that we will gather more in the next year. We also thank our partners for organizing the fair; The National Library of Tisno and the Tourist Board of Tisno Municipality and readers of Tisno Municipality provided the financial means for the fair’s implementation.
