“Blue Project” – Roundtable about socially useful learning.

Datum objave: 25. September, 2018.

As announced, the Plavi Projekt (“Blue Project”) was presented on Thursday, 20th September 2018, at a roundtable within the “U društvu mikroba” (“In the society of microbes”) project during the 6th Central European Symposium on Antimicrobials and Antimicrobial Resistance (CESAR 2018, Sv. Martin na Muri).

The goals and activities of our project were presented by Dr.sc. Martina Đuras from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb. The topic of the round table was “socially useful learning”, a theme that is the main thread of the “Blue Project”.

The project leader, prof. Dijana Škorić from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, opened the round table presenting the project “In the society of microbes”. The concept of socially useful learning was presented from the perspective of teachers by Ana Bielen, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. After that, the participants had the opportunity to see the students’ perspective by listening to Ana Vuk, a student of PMF and a member of the Bius student association. The last lecture was given by Kristina Duvnjak from the association Bioteka, who offered a vision of socially useful learning from the perspective of civil society’s organizations.

After the presentation, the participants discussed about the possibilitiy of developing the program of socially useful learning in the faculties that have not yet implemented such projects and talked about how to evaluate socially useful learning and how to include it in the curriculum of study.

This roundtable was very useful to our project, given that we had the opportunity to hear and see how other projects were organized and which problems were faced by colleagues from universities and civil society organizations.
