Archaeological Treasure Colentum 8.
The Colentum archaeological site is one of the most important archaeological sites in the County of Šibenik-Knin. The implementation of various activities and projects over the years in the area of the Colentum site has raised the level of awareness of the local community about the importance and potential of the site. The project “Colentum Archaeological Treasure 8” aims to encourage further valorisation of the Colentum site to improve the quality of life of the local population. Content development appropriate for different age groups, from children to adults, will represent a new offering that meets the needs of locals for the amenities that are often lacking on the island. The valorisation of the Colentum site through project activities will encourage the locals too; reflecting on the possibilities of participating in the valorisation of localities, the possibility of realizing their benefits from participation, developing the economic activities of the island of Murter through the revitalization of traditional activities such as drywalling, pottery, shipbuilding … Specifically, this project will focus on dry masonry as a traditional building form recognized by both world and national institutions and include the art of drywall in the UNESCO List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity and the Register of Cultural Property of the Republic of Croatia.
To raise the awareness of the local population about the value of the site and its capabilities, projects such as this one are needed to animate, educate and inspire the target groups.
Accordingly, the project activities are:
1. Making amphora replicas for the needs of the game “Flavours from amphora”
2. Restoration of part of the drywall at the site of Colentum
3. Content preparation, design and printing of leaflets and posters for the game “Tastes from the amphorae”
4. Design, construction and installation of a wooden cottage on the Gradina peninsula.
GOALS: The overall objective of this project is to contribute to improving the quality of life on the island of Murter through the further valorization of the archaeological site of Colentum and its surroundings and the promotion of the cultural heritage of our region.
