The Earth Challenge.

In the period October 10-17, 2015, we plan to conduct a seminar called “Earth Challenge – Training for Trainers in Environmental Field”, which will provide an opportunity for 20 young people and start-up coaches to become coaches in the field of environmental and sustainable development, and to provide capacity building for all environmental organizations through the creation of a network of trainers in the field and to develop methods, activities, games and resources that can be used in various environmental activities. The seminar will be attended by 4 countries: Croatia, Macedonia, Portugal and Romania.

Throughout our work with YIA and ERASMUS + programs, as partners, participants and hosts, we have identified many young people who already have the experience and potential to become environmental leaders and educators, but are not inspired to take the next step and become trainers for various reasons. We would like to allow these young leaders to broaden their knowledge of environmental and sustainable development and enhance their personal development and teaching experience, and to become mini-educators in the environmental field. Through this training we will train young leaders, volunteers and start-up coaches who work with our organizations to become educators, leaders and coaches in the field, and will provide capacity building through the methods we will use and coaches to teach.

The objectives of the project are: to teach participants about the main elements in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development through analysis, role-playing and active participation in interactive educational workshops; develop skills at seminar participants such as effective communication skills, presentation and leadership skills and ensure networking and networking of young coaches; to teach participants the means and methods used in environmental and environmental teaching by presenting, explaining and practising teaching methods and analyzing non-formal learning methods used in this field; motivate participants to adopt and develop new workshops, activities and methods and publish them in the Earth Challenge Handbook; empower young leaders to become educators in the youth field and to be prepared to take on leadership roles in youth organizations, how could transfer their knowledge through different projects; provide them with practical experience in organizing an eco-workshop for local children; strengthen cooperation between organizations involved in project implementation and ensure capacity building.

Through this project, we will promote environmental protection through the use of non-formal learning methods through play, educational workshops, simulations, role-playing, active participation, and will promote active European citizenship with young people with a particular focus on environmental protection; we will motivate future coaches to be ready to build a green Europe. A creative approach to addressing environmental issues among young leaders will be encouraged, and we will help them develop innovative environmental tools. They will get a clear picture of the global challenges of sustainable development and climate change facing humanity. This project will result in 20 young leaders trained to be teachers and coaches. Besides, the training will embody the spirit of creativity and innovation, bringing together a generation of young emerging leaders who have fresh energy, ideas and experiences. Throughout the training, participants will be encouraged to think outside their cultural framework, and to rethink old norms and traditional ways of thinking. Training will be a place where future leaders can learn and practice useful teaching tools and techniques, while at the same time having the opportunity to share their new ideas, visions and inspirations with others.

A manual with the proposed method developed will be presented and published as a sustainable training result; a manual from which young leaders can use in the future the methods, activities, games developed during this training. It will be available to all interested coaches in the field who want to use it in their workshops. The manual that offers new innovative tools will not only be accessible to project participants and partner organizations but to all organizations and individuals who want to learn about environmental through interesting informal learning methods.
ERASMUS + promotes creativity and innovation, supports the professional development of people working with young people, and provides a space for sharing experiences, knowledge, information. This project promotes the same goals and values.
